A Wonderful Wedding Shower
The tradition of bridal or wedding showers first began when a Dutch father refused to allow his daughter to marry a poor man. Generally dowries were given to the men by the father of the would be bride but since this father disapproved of the groom no dowry was given. The daughter did not care, she was in love and nothing not even poverty and starvation would stop her from marrying the man of her dreams. Her friends threw her a party in which they all got together and “showered” her with gifts of things that her and her new husband would need when they started their new life together. This is how wedding showers came to be. To this day they are a wonderful tradition that the vast majority of women partake in. And that is why to this day the bridesmaid (or maids of honor) plans this party for the bride. Themes are often a big factor in bridal showers. If you are the one planning the wedding shower think about the bride and what her likes and interest are when choosing the theme. This is her shower so it should reflect who she is.
There are all sorts of fun and exciting ideas when you are trying to come up with some themes that might suit. You could throw a romantic bridal shower. The attendees could give gifts that the bride can use to inspire romance in her new life with her husband. These could be candles, soft sheets, massage items. The lingerie wedding shower is always a favorite because it is so much fun. Everyone comes wearing comfy sleepwear. The gifts generally include sexy lingerie and silly items that she could use to excite her partner. This kind of party is relaxing and laid back. My favorite is the wine shower. You just know the guys are out getting hammered somewhere why should the girls be stuck at home bored right? Have every guest bring a different bottle of wine, you can get sloshed and play truth or dare. Whatever theme you choose it should be all about having fun that is what wedding showers are for.
The wedding shower can be held anywhere. You can go out to a venue and enjoy the entertainment or you can stay in and cook up some fun on your own. You are a bunch of grown women with healthy imaginations try doing something that you have always wanted to do but that you have never had the guts to do. That is a sure fire way to have a ball. This is the last night that the bride will not have anyone to answer to, enjoy it!
